Pokemon gotta catch all one

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 9:13 PM

I know I have already blogged about Pokémon once already but that was just pointing out the weird ones. Who ever came up with the idea of Pokémon was a genius and now a billionaire. It gave one of the most gullible age groups the need to buy things that cost less than a penny to make (Pokémon cards) but that’s not what this blog is about. This blog is more of a story. It starts out the other day in Spanish class. That day we had a quiz over some Spanish vocabulary. After we were finished with the quiz, our teacher asked us to turn our papers over and draw your favorite toy (to prevent kids from cheating and looking at other people's papers). I drew what I was addicted like a drug to for around 6 or 7 years of my life, Legos. So everyone was finished with the quiz and to waste class time, the teacher just instructed us to keep drawing. I looked over and the kid next to me had drawn practically a mural about a Pokémon battle. The teacher picked it up and stared at it for a second and said "what’s the deal with these [adult pronunciation] poke-EE-mans? Is there like just one?” every one in the class started to bust out laughing. How sad would that be if there was only one Pokémon? The video game would just like...end when professor oak hands you your first Pokémon. But after we calmed down we tried to explain to him what it was and we all started to realize how violent and horrible the concept was! So you walk around random towns and kidnap wild animals and force them to fight each other until one of them faints. After that you put them back into a ridiculously small container until you want it to fight next. Seriously, it’s pretty messed up when you think about it! I bet peta definitely had something to say about Pokémon but who cares about peta. ANYWAY, I started thinking about how much these people in Japan are making off us! Their motto is false and miss leading "gotta catch 'em all". "Catching" all of them is impossible when they keep making more and more Pokémon! When I was into Pokémon, I knew about the first 150 or so. Pretty much if it was on any Nintendo 64 game I knew about it. But now there are sooo many! It’s crazy. The trend has definitely died out a little bit but the younger generations still have an interest in it. I just am amazed I never realized how bad of an influence the whole idea was. but since they are fictional characters I don't think it’s that bad and but I'm not one of those people who think banning stuff like this and video games is a good thing.

As a kid, I never really got really into the Pokémon thing. As I said earlier, I was more into Legos for most of my life. My brother was the Pokémon fan and I just went with it. I would try to play along but I never understood the rules of the actual card game but I liked the video games. Did you ever go through a Pokémon faze? This post does not cause as much constant worry as long distance moving, taking caring regarding children or anything else
